As the legal provisions regarding divorce and custody concern the public order, mediation is not an appropriate institution for the settlement of disputes arising from such relations. It is not also possible to resolve disputes involving domestic violence by mediation.

However, all secondary provisions relating to divorce; in other words, the provisions regarding compensation and alimony, especially in cases related to property regimes, are the areas in which the dispute is resolved by applying to the mediator.
